Be Still and Know

Listening Hearts Sessions

are a way

of providing focused attention that brings us to a Still Point of

Profound Innate Wisdom

The Still Point

is a path to being, that allows for tending to the wisdom residing in the

depth, breadth and width

of each other's heart.

Hearts

Our innate heart wisdom

calls us to Sacred Union and Autonomous Symbiotic Wholeness.

With the assistance of

focused attention,

we accompany each other

to where

epiphany lives, and sudden, intuitive perception or insight brings us into reality.

Sessions

Sessions

With support

and positive inquiry

together, we locate and discover essential meanings often initiated by what we call

simple, homely,

or common place occurrences.

These common places

are where we experience the

Sacred unfolding

of Life's Ancient Wisdom.

Remembering our origin story

has the potential to lead us out of a culture rooted in self-annihilation and the obedience to sacrificial laws,

into a culture that facilitates

On my journey of becoming,

It was my privilege to participate in a Developmental Biology class at Swarthmore College.

The price tag of the text book

(over $100) shocked and riveted me. That was a lot of money for me to be paying for a book!

However, the first paragraph in the first chapter was in itself immeasurable in value.

This paragraph would become a compass for my way home

to liberation.

Between fertilization and birth,

the developing organism is known as an embryo.

The concept of an embryo is a staggering one,

and forming an embryo is the hardest thing you will ever do.

To become an embryo,

you had to build yourself from

a single cell.

You had to respire

before you had lungs,

digest before you had a gut,

build bones when you were pulpy,

and form orderly array of neurons before you knew how to think.

One of the critical differences

between you and a machine

is that a machine

is never required to function

until after it is built.

Every animal has to function

as it builds itself.

Text book:

Developmental Biology,

eighth edition

by Scott F. Gilbert.

After reading this text,

 I knew I was on a path.

To reclaim my birthright of remembering my innate powers

would lead to

discovery and recovery of the Sacredness of Life.

Reclaiming my origin story

would allow me to continue

maturing my life's work of supporting communal awakening

of honoring and celebrating

the miracle of being alive.

To address both environmental

and social justice issues,

I have made health and well-being my life’s purpose.

Following a leading

over the past 45 years, I have offered spiritual accompaniment as a practitioner and educator in the areas of therapeutic body modalities,

self-care, and social services

under the umbrella of

holistic healing.

Fully immersed in this movement towards discovery and repair,

a deep soulful tender joy is touched within.

As I continue to practice the art

of communal healing,

the commitment to meeting needs

of our beloved sentient family deepens.

 With passion and compassion,

I provide healing sessions and workshops for

individuals and groups

to support life-affirming goals.

Together we work across lines to address the trauma enacted

when we maintain society’s legacies of class privilege, sexism, racism, homophobia, and all the distortions that provoke self-harm.

We do this work in order to build healthier and stronger connections

with all of our relationships.

(with the winged,

the four-legged,

the two-legged,

the swimmers, and the whole

eco-system of our Sacred Earth

which gives so generously to us all.)

This life path

of compassionately working across lines

has both humbled and

matured my intuition.

This ministry

continues to stimulate creative ways of contributing in our world of

evolving relationships.

Drawing on Quaker values

rooted in love, peace, and

social justice,

my practice embraces a

trauma-informed care-based approach, centered on addressing

the wounds that bind us.

Within community organizing

we focus on a holistic approach

to healing

our justice systems.

Supporting economic, social, racial and environmental repair guides my every step home.

I am blessed to be a staff member and spiritual midwife of

Philly Thrive,

a Philadelphia-based environmental justice organization focused on

improving the health

and well-being of the city’s residents and supporting a

just transition to a cleaner,

healthier future for all.

With a

Trauma-Sensitive Lens:

Listening Hearts Sessions provide an awareness and appreciation of power, meaning, impact and needs

of someone who has experienced trauma.

It is extremely important to be

trauma aware as we engage in

social justice work.

The next level of relationship development is to become

trauma-sensitive.

When people are trauma-sensitive

they are intentional in the ways

they interact with individuals and communities  they know or suspect

has experienced significant

life altering events.

It is imperative that we become

Soul Sensitive and Mindful

to enact less harm

as we

secure repairing relationships

while building a culture of trust .

I hold the Philly Thrive staff position of

Our campaign and organization follow these principles:

    We uphold the principles of

    environmental justice.

Pollution and climate change affect everyone,

    but not equally.

    Communities of color,

    especially Black communities,

    working class, low-income folks,

    and women

    bear disproportionate impact

    from fossil fuel infrastructure

    and climate change.

Concentrating toxins in communities of color

    is environmental racism.

    We develop leadership

    of those most impacted

because we know this will lead to real solutions that serve everyone.

We work to dismantle systems of

    racism, sexism, and inequality -

    the roots of environmental injustice.

    Emma Churchman

.O nurtures, comforts, and gently challenges you to be your better self. Transformation is a dance that .O invites you to enjoy with her. She is a healer of wounds both great and small.

    Scott Gilbert

As Pope Francis preaches humility and the late Nelson Mandela preached freedom, our guru of love and servanthood, .O, has a vision to bring light into dark places.
